Nepal, mercy

It was a photograph in a monthly magazine with a story about a dying young woman, which inspires me to make this painting. The old woman in the centre is a symbol of respect for the old age, the mother who did survive. The red is intensense, powerfull and represents more than one meaning. The pointed down triangle, a female sign for her vagina, where she gives birth to life.
Holding her hand on the bedpost, her face in fear for death the woman receives mercy.
In this painting I used mixed media, a photocopy, watercolor and gouache. The size is about 50 X 65 centimetres.
